Years on Commission
In summer of 2007 I was appointed a member of the Historical Commission. Prior to that I attended many meetings and volunteered at many of the Mount Clemens Historical Commission events over the previous year.

I have a great interest in the past, be it history, old books, old Chevy trucks, antiques, or classic old houses. I think the interest was kindled in me by my Mom's love for antiques, and my Dad's passion for restoring Chevrolet trucks.
After visiting Mount Clemens, I was fascinated with the many beautiful historical homes here in Mount Clemens and thought this would also be a great place to live. I married my wife Joan, and took up residence in our 1925 cross-gabled house here in the core of Mount Clemens.
What do you see as the purpose/goals of the Commission?
I see our Historical Commission's goals and objectives as
Assisting the City's homeowners in obtaining Historical Markers for their homes, in the hopes of increasing interest and awareness of the City's significant architecture.
Taking the lead role in the coordination and promotion of the Annual Mount Clemens Historical Homes Tour.
Foster civic pride in our community by encouraging the care and maintenance of houses in Mount Clemens through the "Preservation Awards."
Educate, promote, and safeguard the heritage of the City by increasing public awareness; through the publishing of the regular newsletter titled, "Historically Speaking," and by our participation in such festivals as "Bath City Festival."
I look forward to helping my fellow Commissioners in our work on these goals. We need to remember the many hours of labor that past Commissioners have given towards these goals to educate, promote, and safeguard the rich historical value found here in Mount Clemens.
