Years On Commission
I have been serving as a member of the Historical Commission since 2004, and I am currently the Secretary.

Residency Information
I have lived in Mount Clemens since 1996, and have worked in Mount Clemens since 1983.

Background Information
My initial interest in older houses began as a child when visiting with my grandparents in their 100 year old home.  Since that time my interest has expanded to include other historical buildings of various architectural styles.  I have always lived in this area, but it wasn't until the law firm where I am employed opened a branch office in Mount Clemens in 1983 that I began to explore the City thoroughly.  I was fascinated with the many beautiful historical homes and thought this would also be a great place to live.  Immediately after moving into the 1925 cross-gabled house, I began researching the history of the house to obtain a historical marker.

Since 2003 I have worked on the Historical Commission's Homes Tour that is conducted each year in June.  I have also worked at the Historical Commission's table at the Bath City Festival, and serve on the Study Committee for Cass Avenue.  I am also a member of the Bath City Association.   Being a part of the Homes Tour started my interest in the Historical Commission.  I would like to see the history of the mineral bath era and all of the other fascinating details of Mount Clemens' history continue to be promoted to its residents through the "Historically Speaking", newsletter, and also, very importantly, to others outside of Mount Clemens.  This will encourage those who are interested in historical homes to look at Mount Clemens as a great place to live, and to buy and restore one of the houses in our City that is rich with history.  Another goal of the Historical Commission is its continued attempt to protect and preserve the remaining historical buildings in Mount Clemens from demolition.

I look forward to the continued work toward these goals and others of the Mount Clemens Historical Commission.
