Years on Commission
Elaine has been on the commission since 2005 and has lived in Mount Clemens since 1984.

Residency information (# of years, etc.)
"I grew up in Kalamazoo, a city rich with various architectural styles. After graduating from Western Michigan University, I moved to the Detroit area and finally settled in Mount Clemens because it's the closest thing to home I was able to find here. After earning my MBA from the University of Detroit (before the merge with Mercy), I went to work for an insurance company on the west side of the metro area."

Background info you would like included
"I have a long commute every day, but I'm willing to make it for two reasons - I love my job and where I live. It's home to me, my husband and my four-year-old daughter. I don't pick up roots easily, so I listen to a lot of books on tape/CD."

Why are you on the commission?
Elaine applied to serve on the commission because she just loves old buildings. "I reached the point in my life where I was ready to make time for something meaningful that wasn't about being a Mom or a career woman. I read about openings on the commission and made a goal to be appointed."

What do you see as the purpose/goals of the commission?
Elaine would like to see the commission viewed as a valuable resource in our city that provides resources and creates awareness about preserving the beautiful buildings in Mt. Clemens. "People everywhere who care about historic preservation should know about our city and want to visit or even live here.
